A displacement sensor detects how far an object moves or how its distance from a reference point changes, and converts this change in displacement into an electrical signal. Depending on the application, this is used, for example, in the control of CNC machines and positioning systems, in quality assurance during manufacturing – for instance, to monitor the height, diameter or length of a component – or in ongoing process monitoring.
As displacement measurement tasks depend heavily on the specific application, we usually develop bespoke solutions for them. For example: for a customer in the railway sector, we have developed a sensor that monitors wear on points – it measures the deflection of the point tip using the principle of shear force measurement and outputs this as an electrical signal. We would be happy to implement similar solutions for your specific measurement task.
