IECEx Certification

IECEx certification

  • International explosion protection - Globally recognised certification for devices in potentially explosive atmospheres.
  • Basis: IEC standards - Based on the standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
  • Alternative to ATEX - While ATEX is mandatory in the EU, IECEx applies internationally (e.g. in Australia, USA).
  • Testing & certification - Devices are tested and certified by independent test centres.
  • International zone classification - Uses the same zone classification (Zones 0, 1, 2 or 20, 21, 22) as ATEX, but is independent of EU-specific requirements.
  • Risk-based concept - The aim is to prevent explosions through safe design and testing.
  • Certification for persons - IECEx also offers certificates for professionals working in potentially explosive atmospheres.

IECEx is a globally recognised equivalent to ATEX, which is particularly suitable for export and international markets.
